Dr. Rokay Kamyar
Since January of 2008, Dr. Rokay Kamyar has served as Medical Director of the Endoscopy and Special Procedure Department of Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California. Simultaneously, he holds a teaching post as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Diego, and he also operates a private practice, Rokay Kamyar, M.D., Inc.
Throughout his extensive medical career, Dr. Kamyar has participated in a variety of committee activities. His first involvement of this nature was in 1984, when he served as a Senior Member of the Medical Supervisory Committee (Peer Review) at Grossmont Hospital. Currently, he is a member of the Acute and Critical Care Committee there. In addition, Dr. Kamyar has functioned in senior leadership roles with the San Diego Gastroenterology Society and the Sharp Community Medical Group Regional Executive Committee.
Dr. Rokay Kamyar has received multiple commendations and awards. Not only did the Office of the Prime Minister of the Government of Japan award him the Bronze Medal for “Outstanding Achievement and Good Deeds,” but the King of Afghanistan presented him with a gold watch when he bestowed on him the Outstanding Afghan Scholar Abroad Award.
Dr. Kamyar is multilingual. He counts himself equally fluent in English, Farsi, Pashto, and Japanese, and he has a working knowledge of both German and French. The doctor maintains a basic familiarity with Arabic and Urdu.
Dr. Rokay Kamyar has written a variety of articles and reports on gastroenterology and cardiology clinical trials and research projects. His research has been published in both American and Japanese journals. The doctor has also given numerous lectures about gastroenterology-related topics to physicians, medical students, and the general community.
